Ian Davies

I began broadcasting in hospital radio in my home town of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, during the mid 80s before moving on to FM and AM stations in the north of England.I’m a self-confessed ‘radio nut’ and in recent times I’ve presented shows on several radio stations, including Secklow 105.5FM in Milton Keynes, Spectrum FM in Spain and Cambrian Radio in Wales.I’m passionate about music, particularly from the late sixties through to the mid-nineties, though I know next to nothing about chart music in the 2000s. My favourite genre by far is rock, from the sixties through to the present day. I may not know much about current chart acts, but I’m bang up to date with what’s going on in rock music.I like the classic rock artists such as AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin and co, but there are also so many great new rock bands around too. I particularly like The Dust Coda from London.I present The Rock Block, which I describe as “easy listening rock” if there can be such a thing. Classics from most rock genres, including soft-rock, prog, punk and glam, plus new music and a special category called “rock which may not even be rock.” Everything is radio-friendly; there’s no nail-your-head-to-the-floor thrash metal or similar. Just great music that fans of most genres will enjoy.
